Santa Barbara Minute is an all volunteer organization of local individuals that bring one-minute filmmaking to the Santa Barbara community. We provide a platform for a variety of filmmakers who are able to screen their work and receive exposure and other opportunities through the accessible and affordable format.
Betty Johnson Director
|
Betty was born in Atlantic City and lived in Ventnor New Jersey. She is a registered nurse who began her career in Pediatrics. She became the Unit Manager at Atlantic City Medical Center before starting a successful real estate business in Ocean City, NJ.
In 2001 she moved to Santa Barbara and was a Hospice Case Manager. Recently she volunteers for homeless programs in Santa Barbara. Betty loves this beautiful city.
After being invited to a one-minute film festival at the Echo Park Film Center in Los Angeles, Betty realized the power short format film and video could have on a community. The format for this kind of festival is easy, accessible, and allows for wide creative participation. There was no need for expensive resources, crews or multiple cameras to create exciting film and video works.
Betty is proud that SantaBarbaraMinute gives a voice to local artists, students, and non-filmmakers who can easily pick up a camera and give a minute of their lives.
It is in the spirit of the festival to inspire a collective of professionals and novices to share a unique minute with others, as way to unite and understand each other in the world we live in.
